Post Apoc Visual Novel where power and money is literally gained through the death of people. The 3 MCs are these bad people in a bunker who have discovered a machine that can wipe out humanity, and in their eye save the world from humanity, but one of them refuses to let the others touch it for some reason.
It goes through a couple really interesting plot twists, and that's why I recommend this as much as I do.
The Good Weapon is a short visual novel that reiterates the fundamental contradiction of the world as we see it: The systems of the world are broken and must be destroyed. But if not destroyed thoroughly, they come back and bring back suffering. But if destroyed utterly, is there anything left to save?
In many ways, it reminds me of James Thurber's 1927, "The Tiger Who Would Be King", but from the perspective of the peasants and not the rulers. There has to be something left after revolution to build upon.
The illustration and music are good, and fit the storytelling well. The sound effects and unsettling aspect of the antagonist, VIGIL, also help develop the story.
But the moral of the VN, the end result, is one that will recur again and again in this war-ravaged, technological-spy-ridden, environmentally-damaged planet we live on. There's got to be a goal of life, somehow.
I recommend giving this one a read. It's short, it tells a story we'll hear again and again, and it never ceases to be a beautiful and important one to tell. No matter how bad it gets, there is beauty in the world, and that's something to keep in your heart.
