This jam is now over. It ran from 2020-04-03 18:30:00 to 2020-04-05 18:30:00.
Make a game about your experience during the pandemic, self-isolation, and social distancing. Show people your experiences, emotions, and stories.
After a successful first week, we've decided to run this jam every weekend!
Your game should be about what's going on right now, in your life and around you, in some way. Take as much creative liberty as you want, but here are some guidelines and ideas:
Every weekend we run the jam, we'll have a different challenge. This is just something to spice up the jam--the first week was "A dog must be included in your game (audio / img / model etc)"
Challenges are voted on. Submit your challenges and vote on others' here: https://poll.ly/#/LVw4pQOM
There is one type of game we don't want to see. Please don't make something violent, or overly pessimistic. It's okay (and encouraged!) to express challenges you're going through. What's not okay is, for example, making a game about fighting hordes of zombies.* If in doubt, ask yourself: is this sending a message of panic, despair, and distrust of others? If so, reevaluate your idea.
*The problem here is not the zombies, it's the fighting and the hordes. Trust the rule above.
Do I have to be quarantined to participate?
No, of course not! But you should consider whether you're best to self-isolate. Take a look at the CDC advice on how to protect yourself.
Can I work on the same game as last week?
Yes! One strategy might be to participate weekly while working on the same game. Another strategy is to make a new game every week. It might be a good idea to set a concrete, 48-hour goal for each week; at the end of the jam, you should be able to share a prototype with everyone!
How are the games rated?
Games won't be rated, but you're encouraged to share in the discord and livestream or make videos about the games after the jam! This jam is more about self expression than competition, and especially about sharing your experiences with others!
Do I have to work in a team?
No, you can work alone or in a team! Either way, we encourage you to join the discord so you can share your progress and socialize during the jam.
