Jame Gam is a beginner friendly game jam for people who want to have fun, meet new people, and learn game development.

In this game jam you have a limited time to create a game or a prototype. After the submission window is closed you have 3 days to play and vote the games and, after that, a winner will be selected.

The jam will have a theme and a special object. Your game should be based around the theme, which gets revealed when the jam starts. The special object should be in your game, and should (ideally) play an important role.

Q&A

How do I go about implementing the theme?

You're free to implement the theme in any way you can think of. Go crazy, find an edge-case. We don't mind!

What is a "Special Object"?

The Special Object is an object that needs to be in your game. It can be added in any way - part of the primary mechanic, as the whole or part of the map, random object somewhere in the background, UI element, or even as a concept with no visual manifestation. Anything goes!

Ideally, though, it needs to be something that plays an important role in your game.

Can we team up?

YES! You can ask for teammates on our Discord server!

Just make sure the number of members in your team doesn't exceed 5.

What can I use to create my game?

You're free to use anything you like, so long as you are able to share the game with other participants. You can even create a game without an engine (we won't recommend it, though. Speaking from experience!).

Your game can be a standalone application, ROM for an obscure game console, or even be hosted on an external website.
Ideally, though, it must be a web application hosted on itch.io.

Can I use third party assets?

You're free to use third party assets that you yourself didn't make. Just make sure you have the proper rights to use them.

I have a different problem, and I need help!
