- Funny writing - actually did make me laugh. Some of the text didn't stay on screen long enough! Gameplay quite gnomic but straightforward, I did get to the Credits but some more variety and longer levels would've been good. Reminded me of CS surf maps, more could've been made of leaping through things and sliding. Shame it was the standard Unreal mannequin and there wasn't much art direction. Mad pics and materials. Music good, would have liked some more sound fx. Definitely a game about Leaping!
- This game certainly takes 'leap' in the most literal sense. I think the idea is good, but some its in need of some refinement. I like the included commentary, but the text disapears too quickly and I found it difficult to read the entire thing. The controls don't feel great, I think some more air control would have been nice, and overall movement felt a bit slugglish. The variety of obstacles was nice, but the layout of the level made it too easy to skip large portions - sectioning off the different obstacles with walls or something similar would have helped.
- This game had a very strong connection to the theme using the idea of leaping to form the core mechanic. As a commercial game there are examples of similar core mechanics being leveraged in successful games along with the narrative style, e.g. getting over it with bennet foddy. I believe if this was extended to be slightly more stylised it has the potential to strike a chord with the many gamers who gravitate towards this style of gameplay. I had fun traversing the presented obstacles like the series of swings and also enjoyed reading the development of the narrative through the comments after my numerous failed attempts. I saw innovative elements in the game with the previously mentioned swings and other obstacles, I think the addition of more complex obstacles or some that required a bit of planning to get past would have added some fun elements. The visuals were nice and used consistent colours to develop its visual style and the audio was also consistent with this. Addition of some audio to the in-game obstacles would add a layer of interactivity and bring the game audio more to the forefront. Overall I had fun playing this. I enjoyed traversing the map and reading the narrative prompts. Well done!
- Jamming with Unreal is always gonna be tough! It always feels like stuff doesn't come together until the very end. I think you managed to communicate the game idea well, but i managed to play through the whole thing without actually jumping! I wasn't leaping, I was falling with style!
- I like the concept that this game was going for, but I think was very over-scoped for what could be achieved in a game jam. I *eventually* managed to finish it, although I found the long wait between deaths to be frustrating. It's perfectly valid to make a hard game, but make sure there's as little friction as possible for me getting back into the action! I would be interested to see how this game would be more fleshed out. If you were to take this further I would definitely recommend you focus on your gameplay and art as a priority before creating any more levels.
