“It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end.”
― Ursula K. Le Guin, The Left Hand of Darkness

This jam is about journeys. Whether it is a journey to somewhere or a journey home, a short trip or a lengthy one - this jam is for games celebrating and centering on the journey rather than the destination. It is about what you can discover while on the journey - within your surroundings and within yourself.

Rules:

  • Write an analogue game centered on the theme of journeying. These can be unique, standalone games or hacks, modules, or supplements of existing games (published with permission from the original author, of course!).  You are welcome to submit already created or submitted games to this jam, and multiple submissions are welcome as well.
    • An analogue game is a game that is played in a physical space (or can also be translated into a digital space via a virtual tabletop or video calls) such as board games, LARPs, or tabletop roleplaying games.
  • Keep safety, accessibility, and communication in the forefront of your designs!
    • Utilizing the TTRPG Safety Toolkit by Kienna Shaw (@KiennaS) and Lauren Bryant-Monk (@jl_nicegirl) is highly recommended.
    • Be sure to provide a plain text version of your game if it is not screen-reader friendly. (You can use this tool to check for screen-reader compatibility)
    • Include warnings for your game if it includes any material that may be considered adult or sensitive
    • Games with bigotry or promotion of hatred towards marginalized groups are not permitted and will be removed. (E.g. sexism, racism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism)
  • Games that do not fit the submission criteria (non analogue game, not on theme) will be removed.

**You are encouraged to price your games so that you are properly compensated for your work - but it is not a requirement for submission. **

Feel free to shout about this jam, your ideas, and find others doing with same with #JourneyJam tag. You can also find me to ask questions either here on itch.io or on Twitter @meghanlynnFTW.
