A Humble Game Jam to Unlock Your Potential
Welcome to the Judica Me jam, brave developer! The game jam you're about to embark on will force you to think outside the box, get out of your comfort zone, and finish a truly amazing game like you wouldn't believe.
***THEME***
"Small input, big output" (not too original, but...)
NEW RULE: ALL VISUAL ART ASSETS MUST BE BASIC SHAPES FROM YOUR ENGINE (if your engine doesn't allow it, you can bring in spheres/cubes or squares/triangles/circles but nothing beyond basic shapes... if your engine includes complex assets built-in, those aren't allowed either)
***Why Join?***
- The theme will force you to unlock your creativity
- You will complete a simple but exciting game and get exposed to player feedback
- You will prove yourself as a based gigachad
- Your game could show up on my YouTube channel
- You don't need much experience
***Rules***
- No platformers or top-down shooters! Get creative!
- You can work solo or in a team
- You can use as many external tools and assets as you want (except visual assets, see rule #4)
- All visual art assets must be basic shapes
- Obviously no NSFW or blasphemy
That is all :)
***Voting***
You will vote on the following:
- Core Mechanic: Is it tight, is a lot achieves with a little, is it well used in level design?
- Game Feel: Are controls solid, is there good feedback, does performing an action feel good? Does getting hurt feel painful?
- Visuals: We don't care if it looks AAA, but it has to look good
- Sound: No background music/ambience? -1 star. No sfx at all? 0/5
- Theme: How well does the game match the announced theme?
***Do's and Don'ts***
These tips will help you get the most out of this game jam
- DO: join regardless of your experience level
- DON'T: be upset if you can't finish the game
- DO: use basic shapes, color theory, and post processing for visuals
- DON'T: waste time on complicated art, unless you know that's your talent
- DO: focus on 1 super-crunchy, polished, core mechanic
- DON'T: add anything new until you absolutely need to
Good luck out there! May the best game win.
