Welcome to the Kaboom’s Backlog Game Jam presented by Bradley University’s Interactive Media Department! This is the first of a biannually held game jam and there are a few things you need to know before you can start working on a game for Kaboom’s Backlog!

Formats:

Digital and Physical games welcome!

Rating:

Keep games rated up to T for teens, Kaboom’s parents only let him play games rated up to T for teens. Any games that don’t follow the general guidelines for games rated up to T for teens will be excluded from judging, if you disagree with the judging of your game as more mature than T for teens we will allow teams to make their case, we will notify you if we feel your game does not fit by the standards given.

Teams:

Teams chosen by YOU! Teams can include any number of people but it’s recommended you don’t exceed 6 people (this can include teams of one) You are required to add your team members to a text document that you submit with your game so we can properly assign extra credit. If you are confused about anything please contact apodonnell@mail.bradley.edu.

Submission requirements:

Submit a Zip File with a build of your game FOR BOTH PC AND MAC, a text document with a list of who worked on your game (Even if you have that information in your game already), AND a text document list of any art assets you did not create that are present in your game. These lists can be on the same or separate text documents. All of this will be done THROUGH ITCH.IO any submission not done through ITCH will not receive credit

  After Submission:

Once your game is submitted our panel of judges who includes Aidan O’Donnell, Zachary Abbott, Lynette Fernandes, David Abzug, Ray Hazlip, Ethan Ham,  and Hannah Dickinson will play and critique your game. The basis of our critiques will be based around a few main pillars including Adherence to theme, Game Design, Art, and most importantly Creativity! We’ll be releasing our finalists at the following practicum after the game jam.

Now at last the theme for this semester is…

Late Night!

Basis of judging:

Adherence to theme

Game Design

Art

Creativity

Your game should have the theme of the game jam present in the game, either through gameplay, art, or general style/theme.

Your game should be fun! The idea of easy to pick up and easy to play should be extremely important!

Not everyone is an artist but the game should have clear effort shown in the art.

It’s hard to quantify creativity but your game should show your own brand of creativity. The game should be entertaining.
