ABOUT 

The inaugural KAUSTxSandsoft Game Jam is one of the largest and most outstanding events ever held in Saudi Arabia. The main goal of the game jam is to support the regional video game industry and inspire anyone interested in game development or a career in video games.

KAUSTxSandsoft Game Jam is the meeting point for the Jammers to get together virtually, collaborate, brainstorm, and create games based on a Theme within 48 hours. The Theme is to be revealed on the Day 1 of the event: November, 1th, at 4 PM AST (Arabia Standard Time GMT+3) via an announcement on Zoom live conference and Discord channel.

During the 48 hours of the event, all participants will have access to guidance and mentorship from industry experts from various well-known gaming companies who will be available via the dedicated Discord server. All you need is inspiration, enthusiasm, creativity, and…maybe some caffeine!

By the end of the unforgettable weekend full of challenges and fun, judging panels will evaluate the games, announce winners, and grant prizes!

VOTING & AWARDS

Judging will start at 3 PM Saudi Time (GMT+3) with our esteemed panel of judges. Entries will be rated in the following categories: 

• Innovation – The unexpected. Things in a unique combination, or something so different it’s notable.
• Fun – How much you enjoy playing a game. Did you look up at the clock, and find it was 5 hours later? 
• Humor – How amusing a game is. Humorous dialog, funny sounds, or is it so bad it’s good? Mood – Storytelling, emotion, and the vibe you get while playing. 
  
• Theme – How well an entry suits the theme. Do they perhaps do something creative or unexpected with the theme?
• Graphics – How good the game looks, or how effective the visual style is. Nice artwork, excellent generated or geometric graphics, charming programmer art, etc. 
• Audio – How good the game sounds, or how effective the sound design is. A catchy soundtrack, suitable sound effects, voiceovers, etc.
• Overall – Your overall opinion of the game, in every aspect important to you.

Voting will end at 6 PM Saudi Time (GMT+3) on November, 13^th when winners will be announced via Zoom streaming.
