It's been a while since our last game jam, so we are very excited to announce -
(Use the theme in which ever form you want, not just the spread)
We are so stoked to be hosting another jam this year and we can't wait to play everyone's submissions!
- This Jam will run for 9 days over 2 weekends. We have chosen this timeframe so that everyone can choose the best days that work for them to work on their submissions. We don't expect anyone to spend the whole 9 days on the jam, instead we hope that this allows more flexibility for those who have tighter schedules.
- For this Jam you are encouraged to create a game from scratch! You are also more than welcome to reuse old code you may have and reference old projects. If you do use assets created outside the Jam's timeframe, we do ask that you clearly state which assets were not created during the Jam on your submission page. You are also welcome to use your favorite libraries to help create your project.
- This Game Jam will have it's own theme (the theme will be announced when the jam starts) and you are encouraged to incorporate the theme into your project. How you interpret the theme is completely up to you and we encourage everyone to be as creative as possible when using the theme.
- We want everyone to work their best and create the best game they can! This being said, to encourage everyone to try their best we will have a prize for the overall winner.
- Each game will be voted on by the community on 3 categories.
- How well the theme was used.
- This category is for how well the theme was implemented into the game.
- Overall Art
- This category is for how appealing the art in the game is. This includes both visuals and sound.
- Overall Gameplay
- This category is for how well the game plays. Is it fun? Does it control well? Do the mechanics make sense?
- In case anyone has issues uploading their game after the jam, we will have a few extra hours for everyone to submit their game to the submissions page.
The number one rule is have fun! What's the point if it's not fun?!
- Do not make any game that includes hate speech or NSFW content. It will be removed. Please don't make us have to remove your game - we want everyone to have fun!
- Respect the other participants! Everybody here deserves some respect. For some it might be their very first game or game jam entry, and that's ok! When reviewing the work of others just try to be positive and respectful.
- If you use pre-made assets, code libraries, sprites, 3d models, or otherwise, please give proper credit to the creator in your submission.
- Please stay within the timeframe. We know people get excited, but please wait until the jam starts to start working on assets and code! It's not fair to the other participants if you jump the gun.
Everyone wants to know what's at stake, so here you are.
1st place overall winner gets a $25 steam gift card!
Every submission gets entered into a raffle for another $25 steam gift card!
Head over to our Discord to chat about the jam with our community. We encourage everyone to share their progress in our #game-jams channel. Don't be afraid to ask any questions that may come up or share some help with others.
- Is there a team member limit? There is no limit to the number of collaborators in a group, but we recommend 1-4 people
- How long is the jam? 9 days!
- What game engines can I use? Any engine is fine; Unity, UE4, Godot, or whatever else you want!
- Can I enter if I've never made a game? Yes! All skill levels are welcome. We absolutely encourage people new to game dev to join up and give it a try! Don't be afraid to join our Discord server and ask for help if you ever need it.
- Where can I find team members? You can try the community tab here on the jam's itch page. Or better yet, join our Discord which is full of people who want to team up with you - head over to the #game-jams channel and type "!teamup".
