This game jam is in respect of all the people around the world (like me) that don't have expensive, high-quality or even average computers to play games on. (This is my first time hosting a game jam! Yay!)

It is encouraged to join the Low Spec Game Jam Discord server to interact with others, gain information from important announcement, brainstorm game ideas, or even just hang out (uwu)!

Low Specialization - The lowest level of process performance or product quality that is within the acceptable range defined by customer standards and measurements of defects in the process or product itself.

(HOLD ON! Does that mean I cannot make a super awesome highly detailed game!?)

No. No. Of course not. You can definitely make the best quality game, but since this is a Low Spec Game Jam, it would be appreciate to have some optimization. However do whatever floats your boat.

The genre in this game jam is optional but encouraged if you can!

Optional Genre: HORROR

Most horror games I have encountered on itch.io are games that my computer (which is trash) cannot run/play. So this could be a potential genre that could make your game so much more popular!

(Horror games are scary but seeing people's reactions when they get jumpscared are fun (>~>))

Rules (.-.)

• Be respectful! (Don't be a meanie (u~u))
• You must accept terms that the game can have videos published on YouTube (It's a possibility once the game jam is near the end)
• Be fair! (This applies to the first rule above this one (-~-))
• Pre-developed game are fine just as long as they aren't the finished product(=~=)
• Make sure that all assets used you either own or have permission to use (Don't use copyright material)
• Please make the game content safe (Offensive jokes, gore, and violence is okay for me but please keep it at a limit)
• I know this isn't really a rule but please join the Discord server . Not only that you will be able to help others but you may gain some ideas for your creation!
• Please have the game have the option to be available to download (It would be appreciated but it is technically not required. It is just that no video will be made by playing your game)
• Have some fun!

If your submission violates at least any of these rules (except the limitation), your game may be removed.

FAQ (*~*)

Q: What if I am working on  another game jam!?

A: That's perfectly okay! You can even submit your game here even though you have submitted your game on another game jam. Just as long as it follows the rules and limitations.

Q: Is this game jam ranked? (Edited)

A: Maybe not. I believe it would complicate the rating system if this game jam were to be ranked. I want the public (that does not have accounts on this website) to rate your game so that you can review back on your creation. For now the Low Spec Game Jam will be unranked for the moment.

Q: Can I submit a priced game?

A: You can...but I would say it's not recommended. I want everyone to have a fun experience within this game jam and adding a price to your creation would make some people not willing to pay or unable to pay for your creation. So again, you CAN put a price on your game but not recommended.

Q: Will there be a reward for the winner?

A: I would love to but sorry. There is no reward for the winner. The intent of this game jam is to help many creators gain experience and make connections with other developers. Having a reward will just make everything more of a competition instead of an actual good experience.
