WELCOME
Welcome to Low Stakes High-Rolling. In this jam you get two weeks to create a game to do with the jam's theme, which will be announced at the start. This competition is meant to be beginner friendly, how good you are at making games doesn't matter. You can work in teams or alone.
The submissions will be voted on. The creators of the highest ranking game will receive a shoutout to their game and social media of their choice (on our discord server) and a copy of the soon-to-be released indie platformer Will You Snail? on Steam. Additionally I can offer a special role on the discord server.
It's encouraged to make games that are playable in browser. That way, as many people as possible can play and rate your game.
Falling Apart
RATING
After the jam is over all games will be voted on judging by four different criteria. These consist of the following:
- Creativity: Making a game is hard and you don't have to shoot for the stars. Not every game has to be entirely unique and getting inspiration is important. But if a game feels unique and special, be sure to reward it with a good score.
- Aesthetic: The way a game looks and feels is important. Did the sounds and art make for an interesting game world that felt vibrant and alive? Then it should shine in this category.
- Entertainment: Creating art and sounds or polishing the game mechanics can cost a lot of time, a resource that is limited at a game jam. But even simple games can be very fun to play. If you had a good time with a game, it deserves a good score.
- Implementation of the theme: The theme can often be looked at from many different angles, there is no correct interpretation. Games that make use of it in a creative and unexpected way or those with a well executed and comprehensible approach prevail here.
RULES
Rules form part of every competition. I would like you to obey the following. Games that break these rules will most likely be removed.
- Games must be made within the given time frame. However you are allowed to use assets made before the jam, given that you don't just remake a previous game.
- Used assets must be credited. You are free to use assets made by other people or work in teams, however please give proper credits. These should be visible in your game and optionally in the game's description on itch.
- Games must be playable on Windows 10. I would like to be able to play your submitted games myself. You are very welcome to add builds for other versions as well, but as long as the game works on Windows 10 or in a browser you're fine.
- Make sure to keep your game Safe For Work. I want the jam to stay family friendly. Please avoid NSFW (18+) content, such as nudity or gore.
- This jam is considered exclusive. In order to avoid spam entries you are not allowed to submit your game to other jams. If you wish to be excluded from this rule, you may ask me in my discord, BEFORE submitting.
- Your game must follow the given theme. You are free to interpret it however you want. If you feel like your approach isn't quite comprehensible, explaining it in the game's description might help. Games that clearly don't follow the theme will be removed.
- Be mindful of others. Don't make games meant to bully or harass other people, either individuals or groups.
