Legit soothing game. I love the neon lights you put out. Sometimes I just want to sit in front of a desk and hit something -- this gratified my will. Though I have to say, there aren't that much interactive elements as I anticipated. I thought this is a full-fledged music rhythm game, which it didn't turn out to be that. I understand though, we only have a week, along side all the other assignments we work on. So don't worry. - Frank
hi lukee, I really loved this game, it was fun and relaxing and the simplicity of the game made it very nice to vibe to at night! The art style is super cute and the color choice is perfect. The subtle particle bouncing off when you hit the drum isn't super dramatic and feels nice to interact with. The music choice is really fun, but since this game is heavily music/ beat based I wish there was a way to switch between different songs - maybe adding a playlist players can choose from. I think being able to add another drumstick would be fun too and being able to choose the colors for it. Since this is a very chill and vibe game I can understand you not wanting to overcomplicate it, so I think just having different beats to vibe to and being able to change the color scheme of the drumstick and drums would be fun additions to the game! Great work :)
I first played it and read the description and thought this is gonna be pretty weak, but after like 10 mins I'm still vibin'
I totally L O V E the art style and color choices, great choice not over saturating it with too many colors or materials. The screen shake and particle burst and just enough to make it visually appealing but not cluttered.
The beat is a strong one and really gives you infinite freedom to just vibe with it. It'd be interesting to see if you had another drum variant you could hit, like 'X' for a snare or cymbal or something, but there's a lot of elegance to just having one. The last thing you want is to make this complicated, and adding new drums, or events that change the drums or the beat might just get complicated and you'd be thinking more than you'd be vibing. Out of all the games here, I'll be coming back to this one from time to time
I really like the aesthetics! The neon lighting effects of drum and drum stick, the particle splashing animation and color selection are all awesome and eye-catching. I also like the beat sound effect when I press the button. My only critique would be adding some more variations or game mechanics to provide replayability, such as making different stages with different kinds of percussion instrument. For example, maybe a cymbal? Anyway, the rest of the game just feels quite enjoyable to me, nice work!
I really like the response of the drum when I press the button, and I also really like the color scheme, which makes me think of Beat Saber. However, I think the drum comes in a little bit later when I presss the button, so it is hard to keep the drump in a consistent speed along with the background beat. I feel like if the beat input gets more instant it would be a great prototype for a rhythm game. I think if you can add some more mechanics that goes along with the beat it would be more interesting. It doesn't need to be like classical rhythm game with the scoring and timing, maybe just some more simple interactions along with the input would be great.
Your comments are disabled on your game, so I'll say my piece here: I love the concept of it all and the COLORS Was very much vibing with the beats and the visuals for a hot minute.
The drumstick was very responsive, which isn't a bad thing and it really kept me on my toes in terms of getting the beat right. One thing I will have to say is that I've would've liked to have seen something done with the background. Black was a right choice, but maybe a pulsing background in time with the music? Or maybe even the bg reacting to your inputs.
