Introduction

I love 2D horror and I want to encourage the creation of more and more. I hope to make this Game Jam a regular thing, aiming to expand and improve each month and hopefully one day include prizes - For now though it's just about the love of 2D horror!

My Commitment

I am committing to doing a full playthrough of all submissions and these will be posted on my YouTube channel. If there is more submissions than I am expecting, I will play some during livestreams to make sure all get the attention they deserve. I like to play games very thoroughly, I will be clicking everything I can, reading everything I can and getting all endings. The only exception will be if someone does something crazy because of this commitment, I'm doing this in good faith. ๐Ÿ˜…

Theme

Since this is the first of what I am hoping will be many Game Jams into the future, I am keeping the theme itself open but instead focusing on time. All submissions should be able to be fully playable in 20 minutes or less. Playtime will understandably vary per person so it's only a loose 20 minutes, but the shorter the game while maintaining it's story/experience/impact, the better. There will also be some optional challenges below to keep things interesting but otherwise go for it, get creative and have fun!

Challenges(Optional)

1. Include a bite as an important element of the story

2. Use 4 colors or less

3. Keep things grounded, nothing supernatural

Rules

1. Games can be made with any engine/framework/codebase/assets that you have the legal rights to use.

2. Games can be submitted to other Game Jams.

3. Game must be in a 2D style but this could mean anything from a side-scroller like Terraria to something more top-down like Core Keeper or anything in-between.

4. Games may push the boundaries a bit but cannot be something that would be labelled as 18+ / adults only.

5. Games must not be worked on before the submission period begins but you can do planning and organizing software/plugins/resources, etc.

Note

Lastly I just want to say a big thank you to everyone who chooses to participate and to please bare with me as this is my first time hosting a Game Jam and I am sure to make mistakes, forget things, etc but I will be doing everything I can to learn from it and improve for each month going forward. Suggestions and feedback are very welcome and greatly appreciated. ๐Ÿ™
