This jam is now over. It ran from 2020-10-24 19:00:00 to 2020-11-03 19:00:00. View results
This is a 1 week long game jam, where you're tasked with creating a game based on another IP. Your game also has to follow a certain theme, this time it being "You have no life. Signed, Shigeru Miyamoto.".
The jam will be starting at 24th of October 12 PM PST, and ending 10 days later, at 3rd of November 12 PM PST. Unlike the last jam we hosted you won't be given any extra submission time, nor any deadline extensions. Well, the last line didn't age well...
After the jam ends there will be a week long period where everyone can vote for the games submitted. The results and the winning games will get announced at the end of the voting period.

You have no life. Signed, Shigeru Miyamoto.
Video game rumors! I'm sure everyone knows about the Luigi in Super Mario 64 one, but that was just one of many rumors people would spread around back in the day. There was even this other rumor floating around, one about the mysterious unused book in Super Mario Sunshine's Noki Bay. The rumor claimed that the book had "You have no life. Signed, Shigeru Miyamoto." written inside it.
That's what this theme basically is about, rumors!
That being said, while you can make a game based around all that, you can also take the theme a bit more literally and make a game about Shigeru Miyamoto too! How to interpret the theme is completely up to you in the end. You can even make a game about someone with no life... maybe a ghost? Well, I don't wanna give too many ideas. :)
Anyone. You're allowed to form teams, with a maximum of 5 people.
Nope! Any fangame based on any franchise is welcome, and we are leaving the definition for "franchise" very open ended. It could be a video game franchise, or it could be your favorite YouTuber. Up to you!
That being said, your game has to be a fangame of some sort. No original indie games are allowed.
Either ones you've made yourself, or ones made by others and that are available to use. You can also use assets from commercial games, we are making fangames after all.
Just make sure to give proper credit when needed.
Doesn't matter. As long as your game is playable on a Windows system, you can use any game engine or framework. That being said, you can't base your game off of existing code. You can follow tutorials, but the base for your game should start development after the theme gets announced.
So basically, you can use game engines like Unity or GameMaker, but you can't just use frameworks like Hello Engine or Sonic Worlds.
Yes! This time we will be accepting ROM hacks and mods, alongside traditional fangames. Homebrew games are also allowed just like the last time.
There are, however, some further restrictions.
- The games should be fully playable on Windows PCs, with an emulator or otherwise.
- The hacks and mods submitted should change more than to just the game's graphics or music.
- You should only submit the patch in case of hacks, submitting a ROM file will get you disqualified instantly.
Nintendo doesn't like it when fans remake their games, so your game should be relatively original. A demake of Super Mario Galaxy is not okay, but a Super Mario Galaxy inspired fangame is. This rule applies to non-Nintendo fangames as well, just to keep things fair.
If you think you can, then go on.
You can't submit multiple solo games, but you can be in multiple teams at once. Each game should be submitted by a different person.
No, but it would be nice. :')
Mainly on our Discord server, which can be found here.
Games submitted cannot contain nudity, or sexually explicit themes. Hateful language, or any kind of harassment will also not be tolerated. All games should be in English. Games that contain excessive gore and violence should have warnings in their pages.
