A monster movie, monster film, creature feature or giant monster film is a film that focuses on one or more characters struggling to survive attacks by one or more antagonistic monsters, often abnormally large ones. The film may also fall under the horror, comedy, fantasy, or science fiction genres. Monster movies originated with adaptations of horror folklore and literature. Typically, movie monsters differ from more traditional antagonists in that many exist due to circumstances beyond their control; their actions are not entirely based on choice, potentially making them objects of sympathy to film viewers.

Monster movies go all the way back to the Universal Monsters and are a staple of the horror movie industry. The genre also lends itself well to the play style and tone of MÖRK and CY BORG. Pick your favorite monster movie and write up anything for it. Items, classes, monsters, dungeons, it is all fair game!

MONSTER MASH ZINE!?!

We want to make the Monster Mash Jam a proper zine and are prepared to pay you for your entry so that we can! If we are able to successfully crowdfund a printed copy of the Monster Mash Zine, each eligible participant will be paid a share based on page count of 60% percentage of the profits. You will maintain full rights to your content and this payment will license full use of the content for the Monster Mash Jam and Zine and nothing more. You still own it, we're just paying you to let us print it.

To be eligible to be included in the printed compilation you will need to participate in the Bogfolk process and go through editing.

The Bogfolk are an international team of cool people making tabletop RPG stuff and trying to make a cool space. We want to make art, make rent, and help others do the same.

We are an adhoc co-op, inspired by Sandy Pug's Co-Op Manifesto. What does this mean? The International Co-Operative Alliance defines a co-op as "an autonomous association of persons united voluntarily to meet their common economic, social, and cultural needs and aspirations through a jointly-owned and democratically controlled enterprise.” So, all members of The Bogfolk Café are worker-owners that each receive an equal vote in the democratic process of our set-up. We work on the basis of democratic delegation, responsible exercise of power, distribution of authority, fair rotation of tasks, rational allocation of tasks, diffusion of information, and equal access to resources.

Our mutual desire is fair pay for all, and one of our main goals is to be transparent and generous where many publishers may not be. As of 2022/08/04, our profit-sharing is set up with these percentages: 25% art, 25% text, 10% layout, 10% project lead, 10% project management, 10% editing, 5% fulfillment, 5% co-op bank. Divided among all contributions to each category based on percentage of the work done with the ability to move 5% between layout, art, and text. We intend to work thoughtfully and sustainably as well as with kindness and empathy. This means we have a very strong preference for local and/or indie groups. This also means we will not tolerate bigotry of any kind. (We're pretty queer in here.) We prefer and prioritize a human-focused approach, we emphasize that creative work is still work, and we strive to support small creators and platforms. We also recognize when nontraditional methods contribute to the overall artistic goal.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Submissions can be as long as you want, but must be in A5 dimensions (same size as the core book) - A4 for a two page spread. We request a version with 3mm bleed and no legal text be included in your upload for collection into a consolidated PDF.

Submissions can be free or "Pay What You Want" and MUST be content for MÖRK or CY BORG the TTRPG and not for other game systems. Please include the 3rd party MÖRK or CY BORG license text on a version of your submission, which can be found here.
