This will be the first of hopefully many monthly game jams I will be hosting!

Kick off the new decade by going back a few hundred+ of them, with a challenge to create an RPG game set in ancient times, whether that's ancient Egypt, Greece, Asia, etc... Go as far back in time as you'd like as long as it would be considered 'ancient', even as far back as the prehistoric era of dinosaurs or cavemen, or an ancient advanced civilisation, or even based on the myths and legends of ancient communities like the ancient gods, it's completely up to you in which direction you take it. It doesn't have to be historically accurate, as long as it's based on what we know of ancient history, or the myths and legends of ancient times).

From the starting date of this game jam, you will have 1 month to create an RPG game following these parameters:

-Set in ancient times, however you interpret that

-Either set in an open world environment(s) or linear levels with a short story (doesn't have to be a complex story, just something to give you a role to play)

-Levelling and progression system with unlockable or upgradable skills

-Looting system, whether you have a backpack of lots of random or useable items, or looting weapons or health potions or whatever you want

-Combat system with enemies to fight

-Something original (nothing specific, just an original idea or concept, whether that's a mechanic, the setting, the story, art style, or anything else, be creative with it)

-Bonus points for lore for your setting

Rules:

-You may use content you have bought from the marketplace.

-No limit on team size, just create the best game you can.

-No plagarism

-Entries must be submitted by midnight on the 31st of January 2020

-You may submit as many games as you would like to this game jam, although I'd recommend focusing on one and making it the best it can possibly be.

Submissions must include the following:

-A download link to a playable version of your game

-Screenshots

-Video of gameplay (Minimum of 3 minutes)

-Bonus points for a cinematic trailer

This game jam is unranked and is just for fun, I'm afraid there are no prizes since I have nothing to give :(
