Moop UK is a passion project that wishes to become an open-source, indie dev company/community. The dream is to have a free and open games development and gaming community that showcases indie developer's work, gives them some exposure, as well as utilising open-source software.
This is the first of many Game Jams that Moop UK will host, in a bid to create a friendly and inclusive game development community that will expand over time.
The winners of this game jam will be hosted indefinately on the Moop Recommendations webpage, along with other people found along the way, for future employers or people who visit the site to see.
Game Jam Description:
Theme: Silly little guys
The game jam will run for 2 weeks and the voting will run for 1 week.
The game submission will be ranked with the following criteria:
- Fits the theme
- Use of open-source software (see examples)
- Fun
- Originality
- Aesthetically pleasing
Rules:
- Must be open-source to some extent. People should be able to download or view the game source code, and/or public Git repository, and/or a folder of the full editable project, etc.
- Must have a Linux build so the game can run on a Linux machine
- No NSFW
- No discrimination of any kind (no racism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, etc)
- If you use any assets that are not your own, please reference/link to them in the game submission or game page.
- Using Open-source software is not compulsory but it is highly encouraged!
- You can develop a game solo or in a group. The game must be developed in the timeframe of the game jam.
- Open-source software examples (Some open-source software you can use includes but is not limited to):
- Blender (modelling)
- Krita (drawing)
- Godot (game engine)
- Ren'Py (visual novel game engine)
- Twine (visual novel game engine)
- GDevelop (game engine)
- Panda3D (game engine)
... and so on. Use anything!
