Challenging game. I included it in my compilation video series of the Ludum dare 42 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :)
It's an intriguing concept, and it definitely feels good to get the answer right on the first try. I think most people have covered my critiques so far. The biggest one is that it definitely needs some sort of win screen - even just a room with no music at the end and a wall texture saying "You win".
The concept is nice! But the lack of feedback on picking the correct answer, and the high speed of the movement, make it a bit frustrating. It would also be nice to have some kind of negative consequence of picking the wrong answer, otherwise it really just becomes a matter of clicking four buttons till one of them works. :)
So it's a quizz game where you must click on the right answer, wait until the killing wall disappear, and then move to the next room without touching the next wall with a absurdly fats character. Also at the end, you jump in the void and you fall infinitely.
It's an original concept, but it's not enough.
Hey! I just wanted to let you know that a video of one of my playthrough/reviews is up and you're a part of it!
Take a look here:
Well, as the first entry in the music game jam that I had the pleasure of reviewing, let me just say, great work!
I think you could add a bit more to this overall, I don't necessarily think that you need to kill the player for interacting with the walls, maybe just have them bounce off since it feels a little high stakes and sometimes pretty hard to control yourself. More feedback for correct answers would be nice. I think a red or green change on the buttons could make it pretty clear, but right now there's a delay and it's hard to tell the right answer. I think you could also add a win screen when you win or maybe something neat at the ending. The music also ends pretty abruptly when you get the right answer. A nice fadeout is pretty easy to achieve so maybe think about that in the future!
Overall, great work!
Thanks for the feedback! This game was made in relatively short time, so I did want to add a win screen(but I ran out of time). Ill take this advice and hopefully resubmit it for something held at my school, otherwise thanks for taking a look!
You should add a cover image for your game!
Just did, and I should be adding screenshots hopefully before the end. Thanks for letting me submit late!
