A tragically beautiful tale that really captured my heart and made me tear up more than once. This story is heartwrenching, but in the best of ways. The fact that it moves me so strongly it testament to how wonderfully executed it is. Anyone who has ever lost someone they loved will be able to relate to what the MC is going through.
I especially really enjoyed the symbolism of going up the stairs representing holding on, hoping for the best, even though you know how the story ends. But also, when the character takes a step back, it represents the MC's doubt. Are they doing the right thing? Or are they being selfish? That's what I got out of it anyway. I like that it was left open to interpretation though.
The cat art was adorable, sound effects added to the immersion, as did the animation of the background. GUI and title screen is adorable. For once I don't really have much in the way of constructive criticism. It was simple, but beautifully written and very effective. Amazing work! Would highly recommend to anyone in need of a good tear-jerker. ♥
