The Neumont Game Jam is a 60 hour-long video game development jam that is run through Neumont College of Computer Science. This jam is open for anyone of any experience level to submit to, whether you're a Neumont student or not.
This game jam has a required theme and limitation, and both must be used in your game to some degree. The theme is there to guide the ideas and focus your thoughts into a more specific category, and the limitation will help you come up with the mechanics that run your game.
The jam will run from Friday, July 30th at 12pm MDT until Friday, August 6th at 12pm MDT. Submissions are open until Sunday, August 1st at midnight MDT, and the remaining period of time is for voting and late submissions. The winner will be announced on Friday, August 13th, one week after voting ends, and we will be holding a party.
The theme is an idea that must be present in some way or another in your game, whether narratively or mechanically.
The limitation will restrict the types of mechanics you can use or play with, and must be used in some way or another, but we encourage you to be creative in your interpretation of it!
After the submission period ends, you will be able to vote on other games that were submitted based on the following criteria:
Enjoyment - How much you enjoyed your time with the game.
Concept - How interesting or unique the main focus, mechanic, or concept of the game was.
Use of Theme - How well the theme was incorporated into the game.
Use of Limitation - How well the limitation was incorporated into the game, or how creative its interpretation was.
What engine can I use? You can use any game engine or tool you wish to create your game, so long as it can be submitted and run on either Windows or in the browser.
Can I submit a game I already made? You may only make your game within the time frame, we do check. However, updates are allowed after the game has been submitted as long as the original build of the game can still be downloaded.
Keep game content clean. No NSFW content, offensive content, excessive gore/violence.
Can I submit more than one game? Yes, but I would advise against it.
Can I use premade assets? You can use pre-made assets that were not made for this jam, like asset packs, or assets from older projects of yours, as long as you have the legal rights to use them. You should not make any new assets purely for this game jam until the jam period starts.
Can I make changes during the rating period? Yes, just make sure that the original version of the jam can still be downloaded.
