Briefly describe your projects key features and tech stack used
In this project, Gaussians Splats were scanned using Scaniverse and exported into Niantic Studio. Hider Material was heavily used to create the portal illusion. Ambient sounds was recorded on site to be used in the game later.

What was the inspiration for your project?
Gaussian Splats was always about recreating scenes, and we loved the idea of inserting multiple Gaussian Splats (GS) scenes into a single game. The challenge was to conceive a gameplay experience that integrates multiple GS scenes into one coherent environment. The most straightforward solution was to have players walk in and out of portals as part of the gameplay. We also wanted our AR experiences to be as simple as possible, and we realized that a walking simulator—like the renowned "Exit 8"—shared similar gameplay elements. We needed a theme, but we couldn’t decide on one. While visiting Singapore last month, we reflected on growing up in Malaysia and having relatives in Singapore. Both countries share many similarities while also holding subtle cultural differences. As we were experimenting with Scaniverse, it dawned on us that these two countries could serve as the thematic core of the game. Since we needed to determine which scene belonged to which country, it made sense to include two portal doors—one for each country. Thus, the conceptual foundation of our game was born. Fun fact: we almost went with a horror theme but decided to use traveling as it fits better with Niantic's mission to explore the world together.
