Welcome to Novembear!

Hey you! Come into our cozy cave, bundle up, have some hot cocoa and warm your paws by the fire. It's time for some relaxing furry fun with Novembear!

What is Novembear?

Novembear is a bear-themed furry game jam. We were inspired by the creativity and community that sprung up around the "May Wolf" game jam, and wanted to put our own spin on it. Anyone wishing to participate will be tasked with making a Furry Visual Novel in one month, during the month of November, and finish it by November 30, ready to be enjoyed for the winter holiday season. You can work on your own or with a team.

This winter time jam is focused on creating a chill creative environment. It's gonna be an unranked jam, meant to connect like-minded people. There will be no voting on submissions, and no award, however, there will be staff picks for our personal favorites.

All submissions who opt into it during project submission will be streamed on the Furry Visual Novels Discord, but you are under absolutely no obligation to join the server for this jam. If you decide to join, you can find the jam thread in the VN-discussion channel.

Rules of the Jam

  1. Your Visual Novel must feature a bear. The bear, which can be any species of bear, must appear narratively and visually.
  2. You must be 18 years or older to participate. Participants are free to submit NSFW and adult-only stories if they wish to, as such this is not a space for minors.
  3. You can only work on your project during the month of November. The point of the game jam is to challenge yourself and see what you are able to create in one month. Submissions must remain untouched for the following month, then you may update it if you wish after December 31st.
  4. Any asset used in the game must be either:
    1. Part of the pre-made assets provided for this jam.
    2. Something you (or someone else in your team) made yourself or commissioned for use in your project within the one-month limit.
    3. Something that you have the right to use and can be used by anyone for free: this includes assets that are public domain, or made under a Creative Commons license (either commercial or non-commercial only), or any other similar license that allows the asset to be used freely.
  5. No AI-generated assets.

Available Assets

In order to help aspirant devs with this endeavor, and in a spirit of community and sharing, some pre-made assets will be provided for anyone wishing to take part in the jam. You are free to use and edit these assets as you see fit, as long as the project is made free to download, is non-commercial, and is part of the jam. Donations are allowed.
