Welcome to Palmerston's first official NT Game Jam!
Shout out to all NT based Game Developers! Join us to make a game based on a theme in just three weeks. After submission, your game gets voted on by the judges and of course, you get to play and comment on all the other games too!
If you are brand new to making games or have been around for a while, this is the jam for you. We care more about enthusiasm for making games than anything else so have a go and let's see what we can create, just in time for Christmas. This is all about learning, hanging with like-minded people and making connections while developing your game
You don't have to go it alone! Larrikin Interactive and Level Up are here to support you as you go. The NT Game Designers Discord server has a dedicated channel for chat, seeking help, networking or discussion. Or, if you prefer some quality face to face experience, we are holding a 4 hour Game Jam event on the 18th of December at the Durack Art Centre from 9am to 1pm. Everyone is welcome to bring their laptop, hang out with other developers and try and get their game made! We'll have snacks and music, just bring yourself.
This event is proudly brought to you by Larrikin Interactive and Level Up Esports and sponsored by the City of Palmerston and the Australian Computer Society.
Make sure you fill out this registration form before you go any further!
XMAS IN THE NT!
Make the theme be relevant to you in whatever way you can!
Main Rule:
Keep it clean. Your game must not include any NSFW and offensive/discriminatory content. Keep it PG and playable by all.
Second Rule:
You must be a current Northern Territory (NT) resident to be eligible for prizes. All good to join if you are out of the NT but no loot for you!
Game Engines and frameworks are totally up to you. You can use any assets online but you have to credit the creator and follow licencing requirements.
Collaboration is encouraged, but keep your team tight!
There are 5 prizes: Best Overall Game, Most Innovative Gameplay, Best Art/ Visuals, Best Use of the Theme, Rising Star Award.
The categories are broad, on purpose! It means no matter what you make, from a narrative game in Twine to a top down shooter in Unity - there is room to shine. The Rising Star Award is unique for anyone under 18 showing promise in game development.
Generally speaking, the judges will be looking at the following:
After the submission period is over, judges will have 2 weeks to rate the games. During this time you should be playing the others' games, chatting in Discord and generally feeling pretty damn good about yourself. Remember that in a Game Jam, winning is not the goal! Participation and improving is!
We are extremely lucky to be supported by the Australian Computer Society so that we can offer the following awards and prizes:
