Welcome to the winter instalment of the Incremental Game Jam! IGJ is bi-annual and runs for 28 days total with 14 days to submit and 14 days to vote. This jam is run by the incremental games community, for the incremental games community. If you aren't quite sure what an "incremental" game is but still would like to join, make sure to check out galaxy for inspiration.

The rules
As stated previously, the game must be incremental. Also, NSFW or otherwise 18+ content is not permitted. Finally, it is not permitted to prepare code/art/content before the theme is announced. You can use publicly available material though. If you are unsure about any of these rules, make sure to ask in the Community tan or the Discord server linked below.

Voting system and end of jam
The theme will be announced at 19:00 CET/UTC+2 on Saturday, December 28th. After that you will have 14 days to make and submit a game, until Saturday, January 11th at the same time. Finally, there is a 14 day voting period meaning the jam ends at 19:00 on Saturday January 25th. The results will be announced in the Discord, but will be opened to all roughly 15 minutes later.

The critera

IGJ has 4 criteria that are voted on for each game. The first is Fun, which is just for overall enjoyment of the game. Second is Theme, which is how well your game fits the theme. Third is Uniqueness, how original your game is, and finally there's Balance, which is decided based on how "fast" your game goes (e.g how much there is to do and how long people have to wait). There is no primary criterium, and final score is based on the average of all of the above, without Itch's punishment if a game gets few ratings.

The theme
The theme will be announced when the jam starts!
Our community
IGJ has a Discord , where we make announcements about this jam, and future ones, but we also have an active developer community to ask questions to, and to work together with. You can always use the Community tab to ask questions or team up aswell.

That's all, the IGJ team wishes you good luck coding and a happy new year!
