What did this game do well?

The way that the character moves unexpectedly a lot more fun to the game. I like how it feels when you hit the sandbag with all these game feel options, especially the slow motion. It feels like an action movie. The toggles of the game mechanics were great. The particles added a lot to the game. The player control is creative, The hit effect is solid with particle effects, screen shake and sounds. Camerashake combined with the sandback shake increase the strenghth of hit, the hit effect color change is also very well made! Conceptually, it’s a great idea to use mouse movement to perform actions. The game feel elements are done well. Good sounds. The trail effects for the hands are pretty cool and satisfying. The sound effect you chose on hit is also pretty good for the game feel. The toggles also work as intended which is good. Tracking on the hands also works pretty well. the hitting part is pretty fun I thought the effects when the player landed a hit on the punching bag were great. I really liked how the camera shake, the way the punching bag shook, and the red particle effects made the hit seem intense and clearly communicated that the attack had landed. The impact sensation is strong, and the trajectory of hand movements feels incredibly smooth, offering ample freedom of movement for the arms.

What could this game have done better?

It is quite confusing how to control the character, especially moving. And when the player stands right next to the sandbag, it will always trigger the hit effect. I didn’t understand the goal of the game and the movement of the stick character didn’t seem to add to the game. I would like to see an improved movement of the stick character The sound effect’s pitch seems a bit low, and sound seems not balanced with left and right volume. Also, the hit sound pauses on playing another hit sound. For a toy game it’s fun, but player might need a goal for this game. The movement is quite wonky and needs to be polished. I was finding difficulty in getting the player from point A to B. The movement is incredibly jank. Its actually faster to punch your own legs to sandbag and launch yourself forward than it is to move normally. Maybe you could have used this to create some kind of obstacle course? The particle effects are also a little too big. I also don’t think attacks should register on the sandbag unless you hold left click, since otherwise I get a lot of unintended hits. the movement is weird, and once I move left it’s hard to move right without jumping, probably change the movement logic I think the game could have implemented a slightly easier way to control the character’s movement - I had a lot of difficulty getting the character to simply walk to the punching bag. Maybe increase the velocity applied to the legs? Sometimes the legs get stuck in the upper body. In the future, incorporating mouse gestures to introduce some variation in moves could be beneficial.
