I love a good mystery and this one was executed really well! I especially enjoyed the point and click aspects as we investigate the room and try to piece together what happened the night before. It gave me just enough information to get a good grasp of the bigger picture, while leaving some details open to interpretation. Giving the reader plenty of food for thought as they experience the story and get to know the characters a little.

In the way of constructive criticism, I wasn't a big fan of the flashback scene. Given that everything was black which is understandable given the limitations of the jam. However now that the jam is over, if the devs wanted to add more to this, I think a scene in black and white would be a better fit. Then we could see things for ourselves and the black and white could help indicate that it is in fact a flashback.

The going back and forth between August's dialogue, narration, and thought was a little unclear given that they all appear under August's name given the NVL style of writing. I think I was able to distinguish the three based on the context, but I still would prefer a little more clarity in that regard.

My only other suggestion would be to include something that indicates August, Noah, and Caleb's species: owl, goat, and wolf. Even if it's hidden or easily missed. Such as a clickable chart for example. I don't think that was ever mentioned or brought up in the story itself (unless I completely missed it somewhere). At least with Noah I was able to guess, only because I glimpsed at the main page, but if I hadn't seen that on the main page, I probably wouldn't have guessed his species correctly. Assuming this information is considered important for the reader to know. I thought it was interesting anyway. But I know not everyone is going to read and pick up every detail on the main page before they play, so that might be a detail they miss.

I did really enjoy the story though. And find it especially well executed in spite of the 1000 word limit challenge. Very nicely done! Would love to see more.
