Make a game in 7 days using the Odin Programming Language!

Rules

  • Make your game using the Odin Programming Language.
  • You can use pre-made frameworks and libraries. But the gameplay code must be written during the jam.
  • Make your game during the 7 days of the jam. It's OK  to add web build support after the jam has ended.
  • It's OK to use free graphics, sounds and music. But you are encouraged to make your own. Remember: You got 7 days!
  • Allowed team size: 1-3 people.
  • Follow the theme (announced at the start of the jam). You can be very creative about your interpretation.

Schedule

  • March 8, 5:30 PM CET - INTRO LIVE STREAM - I'll show how to get started with making a game in Odin. The stream will happen on my YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@karl_zylinski
  • March 8, 6:00 PM CET - JAM STARTS & THEME IS REVEALED
  • March 15, 6:00 PM CET - JAM ENDS - Submit your game before this time!
  • March 16, 6:00 PM CET - I PLAY THE GAMES! - I'll play all games that have a working web build and pick a winner.

Theme

The theme will be announced when the jam starts, at the end of the intro live stream.

All games must follow the theme in some way, but you can be very creative about how you interpret it!

Judging and prizes

24 hours after the jam ends I will do a live stream where I play all the games that have a web build.

I'll pick the game that I liked the most and declare that one winner. Each member of the winning team can pick one of these two prizes:

or:

  • 1 hour private video consultation / teaching / discussion session or Odin or gamedev (good if you already read the book!)

You can use the 24 hours between the end of the jam and the stream to make sure  your web build works OK. Note: You don't need to make a web build to join! But it means I won't be able to play your game.

Streaming

I will be streaming on my YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@karl_zylinski

If you also stream, then poke me on Discord and I'll add your channel to a publicly available list!
