The Official jam is a 50 hour game making competition focused toward all game-making enthusiasts, and welcoming of all skill ranges. Whether you have just started making games, or you have been making games for years, the Official Jam is just here to help you improve your game making skills! The jam will have a special theme that will be voted on by all that members of the Discord Community will suggest.
The theme will be announced the minute the jam kicks off! The theme implementation in your game will be one of 4 categories you will be judged on. It can be interpreted in any way you would like, so be creative and try to think outside the box!
Theme: TRANSFORMATION
Be honest with your work: Please make a game in the specified time limit, and do not under any circumstances use a pre-existing game. Games made for a different game jam and submitted to the Official Jam will not be allowed to participate.
No Inappropriate / NSFW Content: Keep your games clean of any intense gore and offensive or graphic content. While making your game, just be sure to ask yourself if your game would be appropriate for anyone to play.
Team Member Limit: There is no limit to how many team members you may have on your team.
Game Engine: You may use any game engine as you please, and you can even make your own (though I don't advise it)
Be Respectful: This game jam isn't super hard core, so please be respectful when commenting, and do your best to encourage other participants rather than discourage them.
The jam is rated off of 5 categories:
Gameplay: The core "Game" portion of the submission (eg. it's mechanics, features, and enjoyability).
Graphics: The visual aspect and appeal of the submission.
Presentation: The submission's overall polish.
Audio: The music and SFX of the submission.
Theme Implementation: The submission's use of the theme, the more creative, the better!
What if I can't submit in time? - Just DM me on discord (@OfficialChaser). To find my profile, just join the discord. The late submissions close 12 hours into the voting period.
Is there a prize? - No, sorry.
Is the theme mandatory? - Technically no, but you should try your best to follow the theme as it is one of the main categories you will be judged on.
Can I use pre-existing assets? - Yes, you can use anything you have rights to (make sure to cite sources if needed). Your game just has to be a game you created in the specified time frame.
How long is the voting period? - The voting period will be anywhere between 60 and 65 hours.
Can my friends rate my game? - No, only creators and contributors of games can rate other games, this is used to make the voting experience more fair.
What if I want to fix something in my game but I already submitted? - You may fix your game as much as you would like before the voting period, but during the voting period your game can ONLY undergo any changes if there is game breaking bugs or corrupt file.
