About

The OI_GAMEDEV_CHALLENGE-Summer[23], organised by OI SIDE @ CTU FEE in Prague, is a 2 month long game jame during the months of July and August.

The goal of this challenge is to experiment and try new combinations of game genres, themes and mechanics.

Make a game during the summer hollidays by choosing game genres and topics from the following list. It is like going shopping and cooking a great meal from the ingredients you bought, except here you are making a game.


Items

All items will be revealed by the start of the submission time.

How to choose items?

Variant A - from the whole list:

  1. Choose at least 1 game genre.
  2. Choose at least 2 topics.
  3. The total of points for the chosen items should be at least 16.

Variant B - from one chosen group: 

  1. Choose at least 2 game genres.
  2. Choose at least 3 topics.

Submissions

Each participant can submit only 1 game. The submission period will be open from 1.7.2023 00:00 to 31.8.2023 23:59 1.9.2023 01:00. After which the submissions cannot be updated till the end of this event.


Voting

The voting period will start as soon as the submission period end.  The voting period will be open from 1.9.2023 00:00 01:00 to 16.09.2023 10.09.2023 23:59 for both submitters and contributors to submissions. Each submission will be rated in the following 4 criteria from which an Overall score will be generated.

Criteria:

  • Originality - Does the game idea feel fresh and unique?
  • Quality - Is the game playable, finished, polished? Does it feel complete?
  • Fun Factor - Is the gameplay enjoyable? Did you have fun playing the game?
  • Intuitivness - Is the game intuitive? Is it clear how to play the game? Did you know what to do?


Rules

Please follow common sense, as this event is linked to the Faculty of Electrical Engineering Czech Technical University in Prague: 

Do not publish a game that contains nudity, racism, discrimation, hateful language and imagery, or political, religeous or ideological agendas.

Participants:

This event is organised by students for students, but anyone can join.

Games:

  • can be made either solo or in small groups.
  • should be free to play.
  • can be made in any engine of choice, even your own, but have to be playable  on computers with Windows, Linux or Mac.


Any violation of these rules will result in disqualification of the submision.
