Omani Cultural Heritage Game Jam  

Theme  

Omani Culture throughout history have diverse amazing art, artifacts, traditions, and places that are priceless for our cultural and historical value. 

  Without the foundation of the past, we may not be able to build a solid future.. let’s explore the past and stand on the shoulders of giants.  We create this unique game Jam to engage and challenge creative young “Jammers” to use their powerful skills to create games that:

• Create Fusion between Culture, Heritage and Innovation, to preserve the same for the next generations.
• Presenting & Celebrate diverse Omani cultural art, artifacts, traditions, and places to the world.
• Educate & reinforce the importance of promotion and preservation of cultural heritage.
• Don’t miss opportunity to explore critical theme through games and educate the world about the unique culture of Oman.
• An opportunity for an internship with a leading company in Oman for the team leader only.
     

The Details:  

HOW: Gather your team and Register at   Registration Form On innovationcube.om  

When: 10 February to 9  March 2021 (the jam officially starts on 10 February  but participants are welcome to join anytime after this date)  

What: Create and submit a game with the cultural heritage themes above by the end of the day (Muscat Time) on 9 March. 

Where: This jam will take place online on the (Innovation Cube Discord Server) in the Omani Cultural Heritage Game Jam category. Join our Discord, choose the "Jammer" role and then look for the (#innovation-cube-looking-for-group) channel to find other jammers to work with.             

The Outcomes  

- Itch.io: All games created for the Cultural Heritage Game Jam will be promoted on the (innovationcube  itch.io) page for public viewing and play.

-   Expo 2020 Dubai: The talent of the jam teams will also be highlighted via an online broadcast from the Oman Innovation Forum  taking place at the Dubai World Expo in 16 February 2021.

- Game Development Grants and Mentorships: The winner will receive financial support of (10K $) and mentorship for further development of the games beyond a jam prototype. 
     

RULES 

• The game must be practical, applicable and scalable.
• The game must follow the Competition theme.
• Keep your game creative and fun.
• Game Business Model: specially how the game is going to generate income.
• Teaming is accepted.team around 1-6 members.
• The game needs to have a PG-13 rating or below.
• Incomplete games are accepted, we would like to see them evolve if it's a project that you'll continue. So don't stress to make a complete game! But your submission should be playable for a prototype, contain a concept and story board of the game. .(one level at least).   
   

Rating criteria    

Overall: How do you think the game did in general.

Gameplay: How did the game flow, did it have tight controls, what was your experience while playing . How fun was it to play?

Theme: How well did the entry stick to the theme, did you like their interpretation of it

Aesthetics: How well does the game utilize its visual style and how appealing is it

Sound: How well do the music and sound contribute to the game
