Orceard (orchard in Old English) is a 10-day game jam focused on themes, styles and overall aesthetics. Whether it be an overgrown greenhouse, a wooden castle, a skeletal trainyard, a dark bunker, an aquatic library, or a simple lemon orchard, this jam is all about the bizarre environments - vertical slice, asset creation, walking sim, anything playable is allowed. The important part is including the theme in some sense! Beginners and advanced jammers alike are most welcome!

As it's only the first edition, some tweaking and fine-tuning is of course still possible.

The theme for Orceard Jam #1 is: lemon orchard.

Anything is allowed, as long as your environment features the theme for the majority of its part. You can make it either 2D or 3D. Hone your level design skills, worldbuilding, sketching, or just asset creation - it's all up to you!

Due to the nature of this jam, walkable demos/games will probably thrive more, keep in mind.

  1. Create your submission during the jam period.
  2. The majority of your game's environment must comprise the theme.
  3. The game does not have to be a finished product. Just sketching out the environment is already a success! Vertical slices, walking sims, narrative pieces with sketches - you do you!
  4. NSFW allowed, but has to be properly tagged.
  5. There is a prize for the winner: โ‚ฌ10 on paypal or as a game on Steam.
  6. Uploading a WebGL version is recommended, but not required.

This jam is ranked with voting for submitters only, but no need to stress over it! The prize for the winner is up to โ‚ฌ10 worth of game(s) on Steam, or โ‚ฌ10 on paypal (winner's choice). The voting lasts for a week after the submission period ends.

Voting is under 3 categories:

  • IMPLEMENTATION: how well was the theme followed and implemented
  • AESTHETIC: the overall artistic value, design of the game or the level
  • PLAYABILITY: though completely optional to make of course, it will score more points if there is a point to your game
