Description
This soundtrack is heavily inspired by a variety of genres, artists and games ranging from Svdden Death's riddim to the genre of intelligent drum & bass to Doom Eternal and Celeste. I think all the strange places I've drawn inspiration from come together in this really strange yet cool sound that I'm really not sure how to classify outside of breakcore. I used FL Studio 20 as my DAW of choice, along with a couple VSTs like Sound Lab V, Nero, Serum and a few stock FL plugins like Toxic Biohazard. I also used a Super Bomberman soundfont as a base layer for the melody.
My vision for this track was a snowy, mountainous level similar to the one in Celeste. However unlike Celeste, I don't care about being fair to the player in terms of difficulty. I've always had a deep appreciation for games that have an absurd difficulty curve like Grand Poo World 2. Combining my enjoyment of fast, abrasive music along with fast paced, punishing gameplay, I landed on this melting pot of an OST.
I wanted each level to have music that made the player feel the need to match the tempo and pacing of said song. However I also wanted to create an atmosphere for the player to sink into, allowing themselves to be fully immersed in gameplay regardless of how many times they mess up. I think games should have music that is in it's essence, an extension of the game itself.

Theme:
How does it fit the theme?
In Zenith, the player ventures through The Four Seasons, a magical island home to The Garden of Eden. To reach The Garden, one must venture through the four regions, each stuck in their respective season. For this track, it's the theme of the Winter region, a snowy mountain range where the remnants of mankind can be seen trapped beneath the frost.
While the beauty of the Winter region is one to behold, be wary of the dangerous path through the region, full of spikes, falling hazards and miscellaneous chasms of impending doom.
I tried to give the track various elements that were reminiscent of either aspects of winter or the mountains, ranging from colder sounding instruments to the ambient mountain winds that play throughout the entire track.

looove that breakbeat! it creates a really nice sense of movement and contrast with the slow-moving strings in the arrangement. the atmosphere really deftly replicates the feeling of freezing winds and frost. good stuff!
Nice style! I don't think I've heard a breakcore piece yet in this Jam. The melody that comes in at 1:52 is really cool
