Palette Jam is a small jam meant to bring people together to create games! Be it people completely new to development, people not interested in developing and just doing art or music, or already experienced developers, the goal is to mainly have fun!

We aim to host Palette Jam monthly, lasting two weeks, and having a two-week voting period.  You can work solo or with a team of up to five people!  Anybody is welcome to participate.  You don't even have to make a complete game! Prototypes or demos are welcome too, as long as you deem them good enough to release! Additionally, we will have optional themes. These are to encourage people to try new things and you are under no obligation to do them.

We also have a Discordwhere you can search for people to join your team, chat with other participants, and showcase the progress you've done so far!

Why is it called "Palette Jam?"

The idea behind the name is that the jam itself is a palette, and every person is like a color. Whenever you mix colors together, something new is created! In this context, that's games!

Rules

1) Don't post NSFW content! Anybody should be able to play the projects. If you do want to add something to your project but you feel it may be NSFW, consult Palette Jam staff on our Discord!

2) Don't use previously made assets or upload previous projects. Assets made public before the start of the jam are allowed with proper crediting.

3) Don't start before the jam start, please! Planning is allowed.

4) Teams must be a max of five. If a team member drops out, please consult Palette Jam staff on our Discord.

5) Treat everybody respectfully. If you are having issues with anybody in the jam or the Discord, please contact Palette Jam staff on our Discord!

6) Have fun!

Optional Themes

Colors, Found Family, Nostopathy

Judging

Judging will occur after the two weeks are up, and everyone is welcome to vote! The voting criteria include Narrative, Gameplay, Uniqueness, and Presentation. Now, that doesn't mean you are required to have a story or a complex presentation, but the more you cater to each category, the higher the chance you get of winning! As the goal is to create and collaborate, there are no real prizes for the game jam, but the top 3 winners and their teams will get special roles on our Discord server!

If you have any questions or feel we should add something more to the game jam's page, feel free to contact us on the Discord. We welcome all feedback!

Good luck and have fun!
