Overview of Game
It all started with a walkthrough of an imaginary game that 8-year-old Ruth typed for Daddy's birthday... then Daddy converted it into a real game, with Ruth's help. It is possible to play it exactly as in the original walkthrough, or to enjoy a very different birthday.

A short interactive fiction story written using Inform 7.

The game and the story is as sweet as the cake that is in it! :D

(You could say I'm biased, having just had a daughter myself).

I especially like the symbiosis of childlike spirit and adult implementation. Both are really very good. As an adult, it's probably almost impossible to convey this carefree lightness in a story....

I only have one question: Why are the rooms connected in diagonals?

Chapeau bas aux chefs !

"Why are the rooms connected in diagonals?"

The rooms are based on the rooms in our house. I drew a compass and orientated it to the room we were in, and she went round the house working out the directions between rooms :-)

A cute, simple, extremely tiny game — really, a birthday card in game form. I like that verbs natural to the situation (kiss, hug, play, rub) are implemented.
