Pegbox Bonanza! Winter 2024

Theme: [no theme yet... ;)]

All are welcome to participate, from those who've barely touched a block of code to those who can break and Scratch's editor to their will.

About:

This is Pegbox's first ever game jam, and we're glad to host you all! This event will be a three-day, Scratch-editor-based game jam, where you can compete to create the best game based on our theme!

Your host and judges will be Funster10123 and geg dier. (Make sure to say hello to us!)

Requirements:

  • The game must be created within or compatible with PenguinMod.
    • This does NOT include other sister branches of Scratch/Turbowarp. (Gande IDE, Snail IDE, etc.)
  • The game must include:
    • Any form of connection to the theme (explained through submission).
    • A playable version on itch.io
    • Credits to any assets that were not created during the jam (may be added in descriptions afterwards)
  • If your submission does not follow the PenguinMod upload guidelines, it will not be allowed.
  • Use only assets you have rights to!
  • Team may have up to 4
    • This does not include any play-testers!

There are more rules that have not been included in these requirements due to their specificity, and the organizers have the final say over any matters.

Ranking Criteria:

There should be three criteria to keep in mind while making your game:

  • Creativity:
    • How uniquely did it address the prompt?
    • How much care was put into the visuals?
    • How much do the sounds of the game add to the experience?
  • Enjoyment:
    • Does the game make me want to come back for more?
    • How satisfying is it to control the game? (Inputs or conceptually)
    • Is the game consistently fun and engaging?
  • Intricacy:
    • Did the little details did the creators add to the experience?
    • Is the game complex? How well does it pull off its complexity?
    • How much of a hindrance are the bugs, if any?

Categories are left intentionally vague, so that the true magic can happen without any guidelines hindering your creative process!
