  • Playability: 2. Not many of the controls or how to do things are explained at all in game, but what did work was quite fun and interesting. The game also soft-locked after the first fight during the ingredient collection scene. Theme: 4. Clear Theme use and cool use of them. Story could be better explained in the game! Cleverness: 5. Really clever game mechanic, I can see a full fledge game with this mechanic being super fun! I like the party mechanic, the time-based timeline (not turn based), and the potion creation mechanics. Artistic Style: 3. Super basic- not something I am a big fan of. I can see this game has potential though!
  • My approach to new games is to try and understand what's being presented to me at face-value. In this instance, I'm also taking into consideration what was presented in your GDD just in case I was missing something or some details, usually checking after my play experience. And while playing, I could not grasp how alchemy or shadow tied into what you crafted here, even after seeing the description of the game was. The play style wasn't to my liking either, as I was mostly clicking around not comprehending what anything as doing. I saw stats and explanations for what each stat was about, but didn't really grasp how this pertained to the gameplay or how it would tie back into the themes either. Overall, I would say that even though this may not be a game for me, or a game I couldn't fully comprehend the mechanics for, you still presented an interesting concept, so please keep up the hard work, as I would be interested to see how the themes could be interpreted in a clearer way.

-= Story/Premise =-
You play as a party of alchemists who bear the guilt of failed and/or immoral experiments, proceeding through multiple levels of combat against specters of their guilt.

-= Gameplay =-
Brew potions in combat to help your party or hinder your foes. Your potion flasks have a variety of attributes that can be modified, and potions themselves can carry a variety of effects. Utilize the ingredients you have to defeat all enemies and reach the end. Some ingredients synergize with each other for even more powerful brews.

-= Controls =-
Camera controlled via WASD
End your turn with Enter or the End Turn button
Everything else relies on clicking the UI.
Almost all of the UI lets you hover over it for additional information.

Extra Notes
This jam has been a good learning experience for managing & budgeting my development time. I would recommend others join a game jam and see what they learn!
