  • Not a lot of shadow play aside from the monsters are dark. Interesting concept of the main character not speaking with his "true" self. Fun game to play and look at.

Tell us about your game!
This game was developed by two first-time game developers who were inspired by Pirate Software's Thor to create something that they could feel proud of. This game is not entirely complex on the surface, a 2D Platformer with what appear to be simple traps and platforming mechanics. However, the game was created around two central themes: Shadow and Alchemy. Instead of doing something with potions and stealth mechanics, we really gravitated toward the idea that the unnamed protagonist has something going on internally. We don't know what he did, or even really who he is. The lack of knowledge is what makes this character so interesting for us and we hope you find it interesting as well.

Extra Notes
This was our first game ever, and it was such a great experience. If I never get to make another game, it's great we were able to make this one. We just want to give appreciation to Thor for giving us the confidence we needed to make this happen.

For your first game jam - nice job. And it’s always good to see a game that interweaves gameplay and story.

Here’s a tip for improvement - controls feel to floaty for precision platformer. Ideally character should stop almost instantly, and not slide from platforms. GMTK has a really good video on platformer inputs, so you can maybe check it out.

Thanks for the tip! That was something we had noticed but I wasn't able to tweak it the way I wanted. It's something I'm going to take a look at improving for next time.
