  • Hello! Thanks for joining the game jam. Love the aesthetic style and I feel you definitely deliver on your intended nostalgia of old text-based adventure games. One benefit of being a text-based game is less need to focus on graphics and art. Smart choice :) Ingenious use of the servant's mask to change the world around you. I feel your GDD could have been a little more detailed. It feels like it was written _after_ the game was developed, whereas the encouragement is to write it beforehand and plan out how the game will work. The extra benefit here is that if you don't finish the game in the 2 weeks, we can judge based on what you wanted it to be -- not just on what it actually is.

Did you include your Game Design Document as a Google Drive link?
Yes

Seriously... did you include your Game Design Document?
Yes

Is your game set to Public so we can see it?
Yes

Tell us about your game!
This is a text based adventure using a {verb, noun} system When you enter the game everything seen on screen exists in the room your character is currently in. If you want to use and Item it must be in your inventory and you have to type inventory to get that information. If you forget your commands you can always type help or use the help button in the top corner. there is also a mini map and a few directional buttons to help people not have to type quite a much seeing as that may be trouble some for some people.

The story is about an Apprentice who has come to his and his Master's disheveled shack. The apprentice is making an attempt to find his kidnapped teacher.

Extra Notes
Thank you for your time and I hope you enjoy the game! It means a lot to me that anyone would take the time to play my game <3

Nice job! I like the atmosphere it produces with the music and the descriptions :)
Some quality of life improvements I thought of were being able to roll back to previous commands by pressing the up key and tabbing to autocomplete, as when you write commands on cmd. The autocomplete could be trickier, though. Also, you could highlight the room you are currently in on the map

That makes sense and sounds very doable. I agree the auto complete would be tricky. I am not sure how I would even go about that. First thought is to just make it compare to all known commands and if it contains some of the string print to input. Hmm 🤔 definitely something to think about. Thank you! The lighting up the room you are in is a much better idea than what I had. I was mulling over creating a dot that moved to the room you are in but just making the whole room light up seems way simpler and better telegraphing. Previous command would be real easy to put in and probably a huge improvement so I am definitely going to get that going soon. Again thank you for the suggestions.
