- This is a really unique concept for a game. I think the art style was cool and the level design was interesting. I liked how the goal of each level was different. I loved the need to collect cigarettes to reduce stress and keep the character illuminated through the level (that was my favorite). The strongest element of the game was the story. I think the concept of progressing through stages of grief in order to cope with stress, depression, or something similar was really clever, and it was implemented well. The only main criticism I have is about the alchemy theme. It felt like the alchemy theme implementation was kind of thin, but I feel like you could incorporate it more concretely through the game mechanics.
- Really enjoyed this game. It was fun to play. Unfortunately, I got stuck under one of the punching bags and couldn't move out of it. Keep at this one. It's pretty funny.

Drowning the Demons is a story based 2D platformer where you fight through the 5 stages of grief to help Charlie drown his demons and immerge from the shadows. You must help Charlie balance the hormones rushing round his body so he can take control and be the alchemist of his mind.
Symbolism is at the heart of the game where the player is invited to find the connections and meanings behind what happens to Charlie.
We wanted to create a story based game that had a variety of challenges for the player. For the purpose of the Game Jam I think we've been able to present the structure and story well with the level mechanics. We plan to develop this further for a full platform game but needed to be mindful of file size for the HTML5 upload.
We're so proud of what we've managed to achieve in this time and hope that you can see the unique ties to the theme that we've developed.
Some elements we have had to cut back on or limit to get things done in the time we had, this includes some of the dialogue and simplifying the fighting in the final level fight against the ghosts. Further to this we would also want to develop further meaning and purpose to the hormone jars that the player collects throughout the game.
Thank you for the opportunity to do this! Thor's encouragement is solidly the reason we've completed this :)
Extra Notes
We can't think of anything to add here, but hope you enjoy it! Thank you for the time and effort you have put into judging :)
