  • Immediately loved the homemade sounding sound effects. Good audio design. The music was a tad repetitive, but I get it the vibe and it's good! Only being able to slide along in the shadows and timing things correctly was a fun puzzle to continue to figure out. Camera angles were a bit tough to navigate at times, like when behind the cactus on the first level. Couldn't figure out the second level. Good theme interpretation and implementation into game mechanics. The game world was a unique idea among the other games I've seen submitted. Great job overall and thank you for submitting your game. GG!
  • I found the game running smoothly. The art style was good, and the music fit the game well. I struggled to manipulate items and did not understand how to select which item to manipulate. I enjoyed keeping in the shadows and being able to manipulate items to create a path forward. Awesome job on the game! I look forward to seeing what you create for the next Jam!

A family of shades are disturbed by a left-on lamp, where one of the shades become insecure of their restriction to only travelling in the shadows. Shen decides to travel to the circuit breaker to turn off the power because he wants to be powerful like the humans, and along the way he overcome his feeling of jealousy by realizing that every kind of being has their own pros and cons and he should focus on the things he can control.

We designed the mechanics to be extensions of that narrative by having you start confined, using perspective to progress, then by using that new perspective you learn you have control over certain things, and by mastering that you can forge a path to your goals.

Extra Notes
I (Nicholas) have found Thor's advice to be very insightful and it has helped me focus my game development approach. Thank you for being such an admirable figure in this industry.

Both of us really appreciate that you hosted this event. Many of the most popular game jams are only a few days which for a more novice developer isn't enough time to develop their ideas, which is disheartening. With this time frame we were able to develop most of the ideas we had while healthily balancing everything else, so thank you very much.

I really liked it! One issue I had was running along edges and my character getting stuck, but outside of that, I loved it! The story was cute and fun, the shadows had a lot of character, and running around and seeing the house was just cool. Great job!

Thanks, really glad to hear it largely turned out how we hoped! I think I know what you mean with edges of shadows. Thanks for the feedback, that would be a good thing to polish up in the movement checks.
