- The game works, the loop functions, but not having an explanation for the symbols and what they mean, makes it really difficult to make good judgement in the time that we have. I really like the art for the game. The hand drawn style for almost everything and the flickering of the portraits is really good. I would really like to see more work on this. I think it would be better to maybe lean more into the hand-drawn style and do the same for the table/ui and keep everything in the same style. Overall good job.

It is a Forbidden Memories inspired "game" that really just recreates the dueling system with custom cards and some mechanics switched around.

I suck at card games but this was fun!
Would love to see it fleshed out more :)
Thanks! Glad you liked it. Winning is a bit RNG dependent for this game lol. If the AI gets ahead you're pretty much cooked.
I like the card battle mechanic, but the styling on the cards is a bit confusing. I think a button to "inspect" a card that would explain what the symbols mean would go a long way without removing the unique art style of the cards and symbols.
I eventually hit a point where I couldn't play or fuse any cards even though I had a green o, I'm not sure if it was a bug or if I just didn't understand the mechanic. I love the hand drawn art as well, that must have taken a long time for all the cards and characters!
Glad you liked the art and the card mechanic! The drawing took the least amount of time actually lol.
Initial idea was to keep the idea behind the symbols and cards cryptic and allow the player to pick up their meaning over time, but I agree that it just ends up being confusing. Turns out trying to make something cryptic, but also read as intentionally cryptic, is much harder than just slapping a number in place of the symbol.
I do wonder about the bug.. It should give you a message if you were trying to do something without the energy to do so... I will look into it.
