Have you checked that your GDD is publicly accessible ?
YES

Is your game set to public on itch.io so we can see it?
YES

Summarise your game!
In this 2D pixel art wave survival game, you play as a noble knight whose soul is trapped within a cursed blade. To reclaim his soul, you must collect the souls of others by surviving for 10 minutes. Move by left-clicking and use the sword, which follows your movements, to attack and deflect. Right-click to pull in unarmored enemies like peasants and mages. Your health is maintained by the souls you collect, and you must balance soul maintenance with the use of power-ups. Beware of the executioner at the end, whose defeat could secure your victory.

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
The theme You are a weapon, as a knight who has unfortunately been trapped within a sword fits pretty well.

This is our first time making a game outside of a tutorial, and we used this experience as a stepping stone to hopefully one day master game maker 2

Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
We appreciate your time and any feedback, cheers

Jam Judge

We apologise for an issue that has occured with submitting your rating. Your judge's review is pasted below:

GDD: Nice that GDD has some colors. However add some images to the GDD, so it gives more context to the art section for example.
If I had to nitpick; also add the development timeline as it showcases transparency of the game's state and progress.
But otherwise the GDD seems good and on point.
Game: Good with the main menu. I like the eyes of the sword.
The gameplay kinda remind me a reverse vampire survivors. Instead of the enemies goes to the players, they runs away from the players.
Could be nice if there were a UI that tells me what the goal is (like the amount of killing people). The game loop feels repeatively, so 100% need powers ups to do absurd things.

Decent base for a game. I think the controls and game loop could use some more iterative polish. I think this would have benefited from more actions you could perform (lunge, spin, ultimate, etc). In terms of survivor games (action/arena; vampire survivor-like), I think this just needs more meat.

However, this jam was specifically narrow to focus on learning and getting something done that aligns with a theme. This certainly does that! Great job!

It's pretty cool, but too long. The gameplay gets repetitive a bit too quickly, and having to do pretty much the same thing for 10 minutes is the wrong move. Now, if you'd make the game more challenging, the 10 minutes might feel way better, but as it stands, it was very easy. The graphics were fine for a game jam, and the audio was pretty solid, too. I didn't expect voice acting, lol.

7/10 :)
