  • Smashed those swords and dashed! This was fun to take agro from a blue enemy and have the ability to kite them away into a corner so I could tactically insert my mace into the objective. Music was bouncy and fun. Also enjoyed the pathing in this game; having some more of that would be great! I really like the direction of this game, as the maze-like pathing and kiting of mobs were extremely enjoyable.

Yes

Summarise your game!
You are a sentient weapon, a mace, in Ye Olde weapon shop. Like any good weapon, you have one goal: to be bought and wielded by a great hero! But alas, no one is interested in buying you! It’s time to take matters into your own hand(le), and Smash the other weapons in the store! Once you are the only one left, a great hero will HAVE to buy you! But beware of attracting unwanted attention from the shop employees, as they will try to stop you. You must Dash away from them and fulfill your destiny!

Smash n’ Dash is a 3D game from an angled top down view. In this single level game, the player will explore the environment of a maze-like weapon shop, trying to find all the objectives (weapons to destroy). Around the shop are obstacles (enemies) that, when spotting the player, will pursue and try to eliminate them. There is also a time limit, giving the player a sense of urgency in completing their goal.

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
My goal was to try and come up with a game that was a bit more nuanced than “You are a literal weapon, kill the baddies.” I believe I struck a good medium. In the game, you do play as a literal weapon, a mace, but what you are not just killing baddies. Your goal is to be bought, and you achieve that by smashing the other weapons in a weapon store and avoiding the baddies. The killing is a means, and not the end.

Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
I guess I am most interested in knowing if the bones are good, and what you thought of my interpretation of the theme. Thank you!
