  • Looking through your GDD, I was able to get a grasp of what you were planning, even with the short amount of time. I rather enjoyed the interesting movement you implemented. Figuring out how to effectively jump, move and attack was a small challenge though, and I forgot you could slam for a bit before doing it on accident. I think using a typical WASD movement for the jump (up), left, slam (down), right and then the specialty attacks like dash and swing being separate could help alleviate the control hurdle. With the player being the sword, it fit the theme really well! I also wanted to say I like the health meter that was implemented with the gemstone on the hilt. The art for it was well done and I love how seamless it felt. Overall, a lovely game! Can't wait to see how you plan to iterate on it now that you have more time!
  • This game has a few significant problems that should (hopefully) be pretty straightforward to fix, but despite that is still immensely compelling with a fun core that really shines through. Notable areas for improvement: - The control scheme could do with being redesigned, J to jump and K/L to dash/swing is not comfortable or intuitive to use - The map just kind of ends on the far right, and jumping off into the abyss will softlock the game with no opportunity to reset - The music is decent and the pitch up as you progress is a neat touch but the loop is quite short and quickly becomes repetitive. The combat was super fun once I had adjusted to the controls a bit more, and overall I was extremely pleased to see you mention your intent to continue developing this game. I would love to see what this looks like in its final form!

Summarise your game!
The Garnet Blade is a physics based action, monster fighting game about managing the angle of your sword, to quickly dispatch enemies before they you.

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
You play as a sword. The game is about proficiently slicing enemies.

Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
Particular attention to the player movement and moveset. Its the unique factor about my game. I ran out of time. Its more of a concept showcase then a game. (Talked about that more in the GDD).
