Hello! this is the playdate mini-game jam, where we make minigames using the Mobware Minigame engine which you can find on GitHub. There are examples and templates to get you started, so it should be accessible for anyone with a bit of coding know-how to make their own minigame, and we're looking forward to seeing what everyone puts together! Once all entries are submitted, they'll be compiled into a single Playdate game where you can play a compilation of all of the Game Jame's entries all in one place!
Rules:
Read the rules. Not reading the rules is not an excuse for breaking them.
Keep game content clean. No NSFW content, offensive content, excessive gore/violence.
Answer submission questions honestly. You will be prompted to answer a few questions when submitting your game. Please answer them to the best of your ability. Giving vague answers is a great way to set off red flags
Any games that do not follow the rules will be removed from the jam without warning.
FAQ:
Can I submit more than one game? Yes!
Can I submit a game I already made? No. You may only submit projects made within the time frame.
Can I make changes during the rating period? Yes, just make sure that the original version of the jam is available to us when the so we can include it in the game's final build.
What engine can I use? You must use the Mobware Minigame framework linked here, for use with the Playdate SDK.
What makes it a minigame? The minigame should very short in duration to play through. Aim for <10 seconds. It should return a 1 if the player was succesfull, and a zero if the player was not. This will enable us to combine them all seamlessly into the game that we'll be releasing at the end of the game jam. See the Documentation on GitHub for more details!

The playdate: It's a new, tiny handheld game system with a bunch of brand-new games. The SDK is available to anybody and can be used to develop games using Lua or C . Note that the Minigame framework is written for use with Lua.
the framework: Designed for the Playdate, the Mobware Minigames framework will allow you to create your own minigame and have it integrated so that you can play it as part of a fun minigame compilation! The minigame framework will load a minigame which is programmed similar to a normal Playdate game. See the minigame template in the minigame folder for details!
