Welcome to the first ever Pursuing Pixels Community Jam!
This is a friendly jam hosted by and for members of the Pursuing Pixels Community.
Everyone is welcome to participate:
Please join us in celebrating the small games curator that has brought together so many of us over the years!
It's okay if you are unable to create a full videogame - we welcome all types of submissions, as long as they are interactive in some way. Feel free to submit:
- A digital puzzle or toy
- A short visual novel or choose-your-own-adventure story
- A printable board game
- A walking simulator
- An interactive diorama or vignette
- A cool, unique, bizarre or personal art project that can be loosely classified as a "game"
Theme: POCKET
Rules:
- Your game must be related to the theme, which will be announced at the official start of the jam.
- You may work with a team - of any size!
- All traditional videogame submissions should be playable in the web browser to maximize accessibility and normalize the average number of ratings per game. If you cannot submit a web build, reach out to us or your fellow jammers in the Discord server to see if we can provide assistance. At a minimum, your game must be playable on Windows.
- Please list the controls/instructions for your submission.
- When rating submissions by other teams, please leave some constructive feedback. What did you like about the game? What things were difficult or confusing?
- You may use existing assets and code!
- It is okay to transform an old prototype into something new.
- It is okay to use art from a previous game in your submission.
- It is okay to build on top of a "template" project that already implements menus, controls, movement, etc.
- It is not okay to submit a game that you created for a different jam, (or commercial release) with weak justification for how it fits the PPCJ theme.
- You may not use generative AI in any part of your submission. We want to emphasize the creativity and uniqueness of our community members, and we value imperfect hand-crafted submissions over polished AI-assisted entries. If you feel that your team is unable to create certain pieces of your project, please consider using one of the many free art, sound or code assets available here on Itch.io.
Rating Criteria:
- Overall (Primary Category)
- Fun Factor
- Creativity and Theme
- Graphics
- Music
- Sound Design
The overall jam winner will be the highest rated entry in the "Overall" category.
