This is a game jam entry for a contest run by Reload Magazine. Considering that some of the folks behind this publication also worked on E1M1 magazine, you can expect some old school boom-shoots goodness.
The playfully silly-sci-fi tone of TimeSplitters mixes with nostalgic gameplay from the Wolfenstein 3D era.
As an agent of The Institute you must jump through time in hot pursuit of your mentor, who has gone rogue. Battle through various pockets of human history as you attempt to bring Agent Cross to justice. In these dangerous scenarios, everyone is expendable.
Built in the easy First Person Shooter engine, what it lacks in raw power, it makes up for with heartfelt charm.
Enemy sprites are designed perfectly; big and crisp, bold colours, humorous embellishments and good animations.
Music is suited to each of the levels and the voices and sound effects are all well implemented.
At only two levels and a brief taster of a third, this won't likely last you longer than half an hour. Enemies can be unforgiving so remember that F5 and F9 are quick save and load respectively; for all your save-scumming needs.
A few Easter eggs to find, and I did return to the game a number of times just to enjoy the fun of it all.
A wonderful shareware sized shooter filled with time travelling hijinks sure to appeal to ancient relics and fresh new blood alike.
