A 72-hour game jam (game hackathon) where you can submit your game projects based on the "retro" theme and earn rewards. This jam is being hosted under the Dhruva Tech Fest organized by the students of the Indian Institute of Technology(IIIT), Kottayam. You can participate solo or make a team and compete for custom prizes where your submission will be rated by a set panel of judges. A competition for undergraduate college students only.
The theme of the game jam is, "Retro! Reliving the past!"
(NOTE: Remember that the theme here is "retro", not "retro games", so this means you are free to work around the theme and make a game that is anything retro and don't have to limit yourself to just "retro games". For example, you can also make a game based on "retro music" like the 90s jazz or so. In the end, it's all up to your creative process and ultimately your choice on what to make.)
The prizes include:
For the game jam, any programming game framework or game engine is allowed for its development.
I have code and assets from other Jams I wish to use, are these allowed? Yes! As long as it is your game, anything that wasn't made specifically for this particular jam is allowed. This jam in particular isn't strict on the "build it from scratch" ruling, but it is encouraged.
The platforms for the game submissions to run are Windows, Mobile (Android), and even web browsers(WebGL or HTML5 Canvas). (As an executable).
The use of pre-made or third-party assets is allowed but plagiarised code is a big no-no (Trying out an implementation and using it in your code is okay but cloning a whole game (made by someone else) and submitting it will result in not being judged for rewards).
