During this Jam participants build small games on RIVES (RISC-V Verifiable Entertainment System), a fantasy console that can run small games written in any language that compiles to RISC-V. For this Jam, we're thrilled to have Forgotten Runes providing optional sprites and additional prizes to participants
RIVES can natively verify and store submitted gameplay files as rewatchable tapes and add players to leaderboards. RIVES lets you create and collect your favorite cartridges, and compete for the top spot on custom leaderboards.

🎮 Games must be single-player
⚠️ Mandatory: Game with metrics to establish a score/Speedrun, RIVES has a built-in demo/leaderboard system, making it interesting for such types of games
✔️ We'll have 5 days of voting (judges + participants) on the best projects after the jam closes, with criteria: fun, replayability, unique, polished, graphics, sound, and controls
🧑⚖️ Rights: Whatever game created here is yours (see forgotten runes section below for guidelines when using their sprites)

We are big fans of the Forgotten Runes universe and are thrilled that they are providing optional sprites and bonus prizes for this Jam.
The Magic Machine (Creators of Forgotten Runes) will award up to three warriors (approx 250 usd each at the time of writing) to the best games that utilize Forgotten Runes lore. To qualify for this bonus prize, you must incorporate Forgotten Runes sprites into your game.
Magic Machine is providing free and commercial use (up to a $5m USD revenue threshold) to the assets on the following page, see TOS for more information. Find these asstets compressed and optimized for rives here. You can also use Forgotten Rune assets that you own, following the same guidelines.
