Aims
Initially, I was thinking about creating something about a fairy tale, but the more I brainstormed, the more I was struck by how few stories and games are about heroes beyond a certain age.

The Elders is all about the people who come before us. The game focuses on your group of retired adventurers and how they pave the way for the next generation.

In what ways does your submission help to celebrate heritage?
Sometimes we think we've become who we are by our own strength and own abilities. This game is shows how weak the Adventurers are without the Elders' support, encouragement, and gifts.

As I was writing this game, I spent a good deal of time thinking not just about the things a retired adventurer might pass on, but also the things that my relatives, mentors, teachers, and friends have passed on to me.

What challenges did you face- if any - in creating your submission?
This was the longest game I've ever written, and the most complex. At times, it was hard to keep the focus where I wanted it.

All the action seems to be around heroes who can still swing a sword. Nearly every game I've ever read or played is like this.

I had to constantly reorient my focus to ensure that the game didn't stray from its heart. That also meant looking for ways to point out the action that we don't so easily see.

What do you hope players will gain from engaging with your submission?
Not one of us stands on our own. We stand on the shoulders of those who come before us.
